When shopping for groomsmen attire, it's important to understand tuxedo measurements. While the Wedding Shoppe recommends getting your measurements professionally taken, you can also have a friend or family member take them for you. In this video, Jen walks you through the process of taking wedding tuxedo measurements, and provides you with some helpful tips to get the perfect fit.

First, we recommend that you use soft measuring tape when measuring for your wedding tuxedo. If you do not have this handy, use string and a ruler. Once again, ask someone else to take your measurements. It is nearly impossible to get accurate measurements yourself, and you want your wedding tuxedo to fit like a glove, don't you? You should also provide your height and weight when submitting your tuxedo measurements. The tuxedo department will cross-reference this information with the tuxedo measurements taken.

When getting measured for groomsmen attire, stand up straight! Once that's taken care of, you can start with the neck measurement. Place the measuring tape at the base of the neck where the collar would sit. Pull the tape snug (not tight!) while keeping one finger underneath. Next, measure the sleeve. To do this, place the tape at the base of the neck where it joins the back. Pull the tape over to the shoulder, down to the elbow, and down to one inch past the wrist. To measure the waist, place the tape one inch above the belly button and pull until snug to accommodate for clothing. To measure the outseam, place the tape at waist-level along the hip bone. Pull the tape down to the top of the sole of the shoe, or to the floor if the person is not wearing shoes.

Now you're ready for the coat measurement! The best way to figure out your wedding tuxedo coat size is to try on a sizing coat. However, you can also supply a chest and overarm measurement. Both of these measurements are taken by placing the tape around the fullest part of the chest. However, the overarm measurement is taken with the arms down, rather than up like the chest measurement.

To get dashing groomsmen attire, you need to get accurate wedding tuxedo measurements. If you have any questions or concerns, our Wedding Shoppe team is here to help!
