S2:E20 Exploring the Underrated Island of Ischia off the Coast of Naples, Italy

When we boarded the ferry to Ischia, we had no idea we were about to be amazed by the variety of sights and things to do in this lesser-well-known island.

In the 20th episode, our exploration of Italy once again takes us into Naples. We aren't visiting the city though, we are boarding a ferry to the little-known island of Ischia. A place off the beaten path recommended by the Airbnb host in Tuscany. We experience paradise in our reasonably priced spa hotel, and do a complete circumnavigation of the island in our rental car. We see amazing seaside towns with Roman and Baroque architecture & beautiful beaches. We also explore an ancient fortress that has withstood dozens of invasions. And we manage to find some out-of-the-way places as well.

Ischia is the largest of the Phlegrean Islands and is much less frequented by tourists than nearby Capri. The Aragonese Castle is a must-see, with beautiful views and a long and violent history. The multitude of historic sites and volcanic features make this one of the most beautiful and special places on Earth.
