Toilet Learning: the Montessori Way - Presented 10/7/2020

In the first years of life, hygiene and safety dictate that children learn the important skill of toileting and while just about every child masters this skill in time, the process by which mastery is achieved can impact the child’s self-discipline and attitude toward learning for years to come.

The early years can be a tumultuous time in any child’s life, so it is no surprise that toileting often becomes a sticking point for families. The Montessori approach to toileting takes the child’s physical as well as psychological development into account by creating an environment based proper bathroom set-up, adult preparation, routine, and independence that ensures the process of toileting results not only in success in the bathroom, but also self-confidence and a positive relationship with learning new things.
Join us for a workshop to discuss the Montessori approach to creating the ideal physical and psychological environment at home to promote a healthy and effective approach to toileting. This single-session Zoom workshop is hosted by Molly Schayot, Head of School at Wonderland Montessori (Valley Ranch) in Irving, Texas, and moderated by Teresa Aquino, Education Director.
