A New Foundation of Warfare: The Doctrine Overhaul
The DLC replaces the old doctrine research trees with a dynamic mastery system that grows through real military experience. Nations shape their forces by specializing in infantry, armor, artillery, support, and operational sub-doctrines while a chosen grand doctrine defines overall strategy. Mastery increases through combat, training, attaches, and faction cooperation, making doctrine progress more organic and giving minor nations new ways to stay competitive.

Japan: A Nation Pulled Apart by Its Own Factions
Japan now begins non-aligned and must navigate the power struggle between the army, navy, civilian government, and industrial cartels. These factions restrict or enable different branches of a redesigned focus tree, pushing Japan toward fascism, democracy, communism, or more imperialist alternatives. Internal politics, military reform, and the possibility of losing control over the timing of the China war all make Japan’s campaign more complex and unpredictable.

China: Rebuilt for Depth, Struggle, and National Resurrection
Both Communist and Nationalist China receive large new focus trees and revised starting situations. Communist China grows from a weakened remnant of the Long March into either a guerrilla powerhouse or a centralized Soviet-styled state. The Nationalists juggle civil-military factions, foreign loans, political reform, and defensive strategies as they prepare for Japan’s assault. The region features expanded states, new mechanics, infiltration tools, and multiple unification paths that make Chinese politics a full strategic landscape.

The Philippines: A Fight for Identity and Independence
The Philippines shifts from a small, dependent commonwealth to a nation with diverse ideological options and significant naval potential. The tree explores alignment with the United States, cooperation with Japan, radical independence movements, and even monarchist revival. Economic milestones strengthen the weak starting army, while later gameplay branches into resistance warfare, naval expansion, or regional leadership depending on the chosen path.
