The Carl Zeiss Ultron 50mm f1.8 is reputed to be one of the best and most beautiful classic old fast fifty lenses. It has a concave front element – very unusual for photography gear.

This video briefly looks at the history of the lens, designed by Dr A.W. Tronnier, and the camera it was designed for. It goes one to test and discuss how the lens performs on today’s digital cameras, with many example photos.
