Disassembly of a cylinder head cover

To disassemble the cylinder head cover, a suitable workplace is mandatory. The tools needed should be ready and in perfect condition. The fixing screws of the cylinder head cover are to be removed according to the manufacturer's instructions, depending on the manufacturer, this is done in a row or cross. For some manufacturers, the cylinder head cover is also used as mounting and storage of the camshaft, especially in these engines one has to pay attention to a meticulous compliance with the manufacturer's instructions. Otherwise there is a risk of damage to the camshaft. First, any existing hoses, cable guides and sensors in the cylinder head cover are to be removed. Turning the mounting screws to the left with a suitable tool, removes the mounting material from the cylinder head cover. The cylinder head cover can then be carefully lifted off the cylinder head. The gasket, which is usually installed on the cylinder head cover or on the cylinder head, must be replaced when joining the engine in order to achieve a sufficient sealing effect. The removed components must be sorted, cleaned and stored for later reuse.
