One study looked at 233 pets that switched from a meat-based diet to a plant-based one. The dogs' blood values all came back within normal ranges including Iron and Vitamin B12. In fact, 38% of owners think that their dog’s coat and fur quality improved! If properly formulated, a vegan diet for dogs can support their nutritional needs.

Another study looked at sprint-racing huskies. 6 were fed a meat-based diet for active dogs, 6 were fed the vegan equivalent. They couldn’t find any difference between the two groups of dogs after 12 weeks and both finished the races with no real difference between the two.
