Hi! I'm Emily and I've been a landscaper for 22 years. I've worked off and on for my father since 2002. He started Botany Bay Landscaping in 1994. I dropped out of highschool and got my GED. I didn't need school because I knew I was going to be just like my Dad, a landscaper.

I started on the install side where I learned how to plant trees, shrubs, lay sod, install irrigation, lay brick, operate a tractor and so much more.

We butted heads for many years and I left and went to work at another landscape company where I learned the maintenance side of landscaping.

Not the maintenance you're thinking of though. I've only ever worked high end residential and I didn't and don't ever plan on working for a mow, blow and go company.

I learned about detail pruning and how to optimize plant growth. I learned about the insects that plague our plants during the warm summer months and the fungus that forms after aphids have devoured the Podocarpus. I did have to learn how to mow because when you mow the lawn of a 10 million dollar home you better know how to cut patterns. I learned how to fine tune my eyes for extreme detail, never leaving a leaf out of place. I loved this company and its owner.

However it was time to move on and I became the private Gardner/land caretaker for a lovely older couple. I had met them when I did their install when I was working for my dad. I came on when their house wasn't even finished being built I borrowed my dad's tractor and had loads and loads of dirt delivered to grade around the house.

I created the landscape from ground up. Digging every hole, planting every plant, digging every trench, glueing all the pipes, laying every piece of sod... you get my drift. You can even check out a video I made of the day in the life of a land caretaker.

I worked there for 4 years and during that time I grew up, even though I was in my early 30's. I knew I wanted to be a landscaper. I want to install gardens and then care for them.

I came back to my father's company in 2020 and it's been one hell of a ride. I'm grateful to see my sister every day. She works for him as well. It was a bit bumpy at first but now I am the operations manager on the maintenance side of things.

We have some of the most beautiful gardens and some of the wealthiest clients, Dan Marino, Dan Sullivan the founder of Fed Ex just to name a few.

My passion is making people happy through the work I do in their gardens. I believe my God given gift was to be an incredible landscaper who brings joy to all those I serve.

I love my job.
