Описание к видео Poor man's pulling head.

The cost of the greenlee grabber head was excessive and the time to get, or borrow them, was too long. I thought of buying the pre-made crimp on heads with loops on them already but they are again out a bit to get them. Also they are about $80.00 for a one them shot and I had a total of 6 pulls to be done. That would have been an additional $480.00! I thought about it for a bit and simply got a length of 3/16 stranded steel wire from the home store for about $6.00 for 12 feet. I then found a 3ft length of 3/4" aluminum tubing with a 1/16" wall from Lowes that appears to be 3000 series. Though stiff it crimps just fine without cracking. Meaning it is not heat treated to T6. This is important because if you get tubing that is say 6061T6 and try to crimp it, it will crack and not hold! The conductors on the wire I pulled were 500mcm AL and semi compacted. I carefully cut the jacket and just the outer conductors to reduce the OD of the wire. This fits rather well in the tube. At the same time I sleeve the conductors I also slipped in only one end the 3/16 cable I had cut to around 14". This was then crimped with a white die in my T&B 15 ton crimp head. See the video for the results. The other end the the steel cable gets landed in another cable so that they are connected at the head. One pulls against the other. The head is made up like you see in the video. I consolidate the conductors and tape with simple electrical tape. I then follow up with 3" Gorilla tape starting from behind and working forward to the head. This tapers the head and the conductors pulled really easy thru 3" EMT.total cost for all the parts for 6 pulls was only $25.00 and about an hour to prep all 6 heads. Remember you need a hydraulic crimper and not a manual pump one! Hope this helps others and good luck!
