Two Mapletree REITs announce $4.2 billion merger

Two trusts under Mapletree have proposed to merge in a $4.2-billion deal. The Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust, it will have a market capitalisation of about $10.5 billion, placing it within the top ten largest real estate investment trusts (REITs) in Asia. The new entity will have assets of about $17.1 billion across five Asian markets in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea, including properties like VivoCity in Singapore, and Festival Walk in Hong Kong.
