Описание к видео I'm Still Alive! (Incident on FM 3005)

This video was shot with a Garmin VIRB 360 on Saturday, June 2, 2018 on the west bound lane of FM 3005 between Pirate's Beach and Jamaica Beach (near Galveston Island State Park) at approximately 10:45 AM.

Whether this was intentional or distracted driving, I do not know. Either way, it wasn't cool.

I was wearing a neon color jersey. I also had TWO red flashing taillights. One of which (Garmin Varia RTL510) is supposed to be visible up to one mile in daylight and is also a radar that I can monitor on my Garmin computer. I also have rear view mirrors on both of my bar ends. The radar is excellent at picking up approaching vehicles - often before I can even see them in the rear view mirrors. Unfortunately, it only gives you a sense of "linear" distance, not "lateral" distance.

My Garmin bike computer is also linked to the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone. If it detects an accident (I'm not upright anymore), it will send a text message to 3 designated contacts. I also wear a RoadID on a neon green band my right ankle in case something happens. Fortunately, didn't have to use either of these that morning! I also wear a fluorescent ankle band on my left ankle and I have a forward facing flashing white light on my handlebar.

Do you get the picture here? I have gone out of my way and spared no expense to be safe.

I shared the video as well as some screen grabs of the license plates and the truck crossing the white line with the Galveston Police. This was their response:

"Ma'am,
I apologize that its been hard to reach me, with summer in full swing, things have been busy for us. I ran the license plate and it came back to someone from out of town. I've reviewed the video footage and pictures you have sent and I'm greatful you were not harmed. I'm not sure what you would like for us to do at this time as no crime was committed. This video doesn't show any ill intent and neither you or the vehicle did anything that would constitute an actual crime was committed. You were riding on the shoulder and the vehicle was clearly driving within the marked lane. I would agree that the truck was very close to you when it passed. Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Ofc. K. Blake"
