Welcome to British Columbia - Kelowna to Kamloops 4K.
Good Morning and welcome to Kelowna, the heart of British Columbia. Join us as we take a cruise on Lake Okanagan, one of British Columbia's most breathtaking gems. Nestled in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, this 135-kilometer-long lake offers more than just scenic beauty.
Whether you’re cruising on a calm morning or soaking up the afternoon sun, Lake Okanagan’s sparkling waters are a gateway to adventure. With wineries lining the shores and stunning mountain backdrops, a boat ride here is more than a journey—it's an unforgettable experience. Welcome to the heart of the Okanagan. Legend has it, Ogopogo, the mysterious lake creature, lurks below—will you spot it? Now time for some wine tasting.
Welcome to Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery, where the rugged beauty of Kelowna’s wine country meets over 60 years of winemaking tradition. Named after the dormant volcano it sits on, Mt. Boucherie offers a truly volcanic experience. These rich, fertile soils produce award-winning wines that reflect the heart of the Okanagan Valley. From bold reds to crisp whites, each sip tells the story of the vineyard’s uniqueness. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or a casual taster, there’s something here for every palate.
Raise a glass to the perfect blend of stunning views, fine wine, and unforgettable moments. After lunch we take an afternoon walk along the beautiful boardwalk of Kelowna, the heart of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Known for its stunning landscapes, world-class wineries, and outdoor adventures, Kelowna is a city that has something for everyone. From the vibrant downtown, filled with local cafes and boutique shops, to the scenic waterfront along Lake Okanagan, Kelowna offers the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration. Kelowna is also home to over 40 wineries, making it a premier destination for wine lovers. Sip your way through vineyards with breathtaking views and award-winning wines. Whether you’re hiking scenic trails, boating on the lake, or savoring local flavors, Kelowna is a destination you’ll want to return to again and again.
After witnessing a beautiful sunrise on Lake Okanagan we head toward Kamloops. First stop is the Planet Bee apiary and honey farm located in Vernon, British Columbia, that focuses on educating visitors about bees and their essential role in the ecosystem. We took a tour where we learned about beekeeping, honey production, and the importance of pollination. The facility also features a honey-tasting bar, offering a variety of honey flavors, as well as bee-related products like beeswax candles and skincare items. Planet Bee is a popular spot for families, tourists, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture and bee conservation. Next we continue our travel through the Okananagan Valley and stop in Vernon for lunch. The Mural Walk in Vernon, British Columbia, is a tour through the city's downtown area that showcases over 30 large-scale murals that reflect the rich history, culture, and community of Vernon. Each mural tells a unique story, transforming the city's walls into an outdoor gallery. Visitors can explore the murals on foot, and there are maps and guided tours available to enhance the experience, making it a popular activity for art enthusiasts and tourists alike. After a drive toward Kamloops we arrive at the BC Wilklife Park. Welcome to BC Wildlife Park, an immersive wildlife experience nestled just outside Kamloops, British Columbia. This 106-acre park is home to over 60 species of native and rescued animals. From grizzly bears splashing in the water to majestic birds of prey soaring overhead, the park brings you up close to the wild wonders of British Columbia. More than just a zoo, BC Wildlife Park is dedicated to conservation and rehabilitation. Many of its residents have been rescued and are part of vital educational programs. Meet the elusive Spirit Bear, also known as the Kermode bear—one of the rarest creatures on Earth. Found in the ancient rainforests of British Columbia, this white-furred black bear is a symbol of mystery and beauty. At BC Wildlife Park, we had the rare chance to observe this magnificent bear up close. With only a small population in the wild, spotting a Spirit Bear is like glimpsing a legend. Spirit Bears aren’t albino. Their striking white fur is caused by a unique genetic trait, making them a living treasure of BC’s wild heritage. A visit to BC Wildlife Park is more than a day out—it's a chance to connect with nature’s most extraordinary creations. Awesome two days spent in this area as Jasper National Park was closed so we rerouted through this area. Tomorrow we travel to Victoria. ‪@BigfootJourneys‬
