Anchor Bay at Tawharanui Regional Park is one of the top snorkelling places on North Island. We plan to try snorkelling here next summer when the kids get a little older. But for now, we want to enjoy the smooth sand and climb up to the lookout.

Giant seagulls are fierce here. They literally poked around our bag and took our baby's yoghurt drops, and flew away with it. We tried chasing it, but it wouldn't let go of it. Eventually, it dropped the bag into the water, and the yoghurt drops were soaked. Always zip your bags at New Zealand beaches!
