We Saved Our Fruit Forest From the RABBITS! | Easy Rabbit Tree Guard - RESULTS | Zone 5 Gardening Guten Yardening

Over the past few winters our fruit trees have suffered greatly at the mouths of the rabbits that roam our urban garden area. These rabbits get very hungry during the winter time, and when snow is on the ground, they will seemingly eat anything they can put their paws on.

This means that they have devastated our fruit trees, our grape vines, and even our raspberry bushes. So, at the beginning of the winter, here in zone 5 Wisconsin, we came up with a fix that we hoped would limit the trees’ exposure to the rabbits. We used tomato cages and burlap and even some food safe plastic, and now that winter is winding down, and we are almost ready to begin planting outside, we have the results for this experiment. Did we have success protecting apple trees? What about our other fruit trees?

A few things that we should note. This winter had an unseasonably low amount of snow, and we did leave some of our dead plants outside in the ground all winter long to help feed the rabbits.

Protecting fruit trees from rabbits can be a challenge, and we are very pleased with the results, and we hope you enjoy this video from our zone 5 garden.
