Definition -
That different methods of encoding information into memory have different levels of effectiveness.

Example -
Participants were given a list of 60 words. They were given 3 category questions. How is it visually presented? What are the phonetic qualities? And lastly, can you relate the word to a context from real life? The result of this study showed that the words which contained deep processing (the latter) were remembered better.
