The Invisible College: Color Confinement by Matthew Ritchie

Описание к видео The Invisible College: Color Confinement by Matthew Ritchie

The Invisible College, created by 2018–21 Dasha Zhukova Distinguished Visiting Artist Matthew Ritchie at the MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology, incorporates the many dimensions of the university—social, material, intellectual, technological—from the informal conversations to the new technologies being developed in the labs. In exploring the Institute as both an information space and a physical one, Ritchie captures those states of turbulence, chaos, and indeterminacy—the rush between classes, or the blurry moment before a picture sharpens into legibility—sketchy zones that, as he says, create “the most generative space for the radical rethinking of reality.” Learn more about the work on the exhibition page: https://unfoldingai.mit.edu/invisible...

The film premiered April 6, 2021 as part of the symposium Unfolding Intelligence: The Art and Science of Contemporary Computation.

About the MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology (CAST)
A major cross-school initiative, the MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology (CAST) creates
new opportunities for art, science and technology to thrive as interrelated, mutually informing
modes of exploration, knowledge and discovery. CAST’s multidisciplinary platform presents
performing and visual arts programs, supports research projects for artists working with science
and engineering labs, and sponsors symposia, classes, workshops, design studios, lectures and
publications. The visiting artists program is a cornerstone of CAST’s activities, which
encourages cross-fertilization among disciplines and intensive interaction with MIT’s faculty,
students, and researchers. CAST is based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
