Elden Ring Lore: MIQUELLA the HEALER- The Psychology of the OUTER GODS

In the 1.00 patch of Elden Ring, Miquella's Needle was meant to inserted into one's eyes that was inflicted with an Outer God. In the 1940's and 50's transorbital lobotomies were performed to rid someone of the "demons" in their head and heal their mental ailments. Is this what we are seeing with Miquella's Needle? Did Miyazaki take this out because it would give too much of the hidden story away? What are the Outer Gods? I don't believe they are Kami or Lovecraftian. They lack any positive or idealistic qualities associated with those. They are much more possessive and malevolent. Nearly all of them take your sight leaving you stuck with only the thoughts in your head......... a harrowing fate indeed. To someone with mental illness, their God is that possession. However, that is not who they truly are, somewhere deep within ourselves lies what is called the Inner God. Is Miquella vs the Outer Gods a fantasized version of the Inner God vs mental anguish? Perhaps hidden within the fabric of Elden Ring we will find the answer.

Outer Gods are indeed part of the universe of Elden Ring, but what or where is that?
