In the United States, the next chapter in the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is under way in the country's upper chamber.

House Democratic prosecutors made the ceremonial walk across the Capitol to the Senate to deliver the charge of incitement of insurrection. But Republican senators are easing off their criticism of the former president. Instead, they are presenting a tangle of legal arguments against the legitimacy of the trial and questioning whether Mr Trump's repeated demands to overturn Joe Biden's election really amounted to incitement. And even Mr Biden has been quoted as saying that Mr Trump is unlikely to be convicted in the trial which begins in two weeks time...
