10 SA Celeb Couples who Met on Set

And while it's not always the case that people who are onscreen couples will date, many actors have met their significant others on set and in this list we will look at South African actors who met on set while working together on the same production and began dating in real life.

1. Luyanda Zwane and Sparky Xulu

Luyanda Zwane is a South African actress who recently came into the spotlight for her Shaka ilembe role as Vundlakazi and on Sibongile and the Dlaminis as Sibongile. As of 2024, the actress is dating Sparky Xulu and for a minute you'd wonder how the two met. But, the answer is simple, they worked together on Redemption where Xulu was the main lead.

That's how the two are known to have been connected by work. However, their relationship isn't without controversy because Zwane is only turning 20 years this year while Xulu is already in his 30s. So, some were bothered by that because it meant xulu being in his 30s approached a 19 year old. Moreover, it's worth noting that Xulu even has one child already by an unknown baby momma.

2. Sabelo Ernest Radebe and Kgaogelo Monama

Okay these two might interest you as they both act on Smoke and Mirrors. It is believed that the two met on the set of Smoke and Mirrors where Sabelo plays Magolide and Kgaogelo Monama plays Pertunia. In their entire history of acting, this is the first time they've acted on the same set and started dating. On their socials like Instagram and Facebook, they share their pictures together on vacations and trips they've been to together. The two are clearly in love and we hope their love lasts long as it's not always good to mix business with pleasure.

3. Wanda Zuma and Shalate Sekhabi

Okay on our 3 we have the House of Zwide stars, Wanda Zuma and Shalate Sekhabi. Firstly, we must say they haven't confirmed these rumours themselves like others on this list. But, we have it on good authority that the two are dating. Firstly, they have been seen going to private functions together, holding hands and being cosy.

Furthermore, Sekhabi released a song called Can't you See, in which she asked Zuma to be her love interest in the music video and some fans believe the massage was to Zuma. What is much more interesting about this couple however, is the fact that they are actually married on House of Zwide. So, maybe that led them into growing closer and eventually falling in love with one another.

4. JT Medupe and Lebogang Mthunzi

Okay, these ones aren't so new. But their story is definitely one of the most inspiring. Because unlike most of these recent couples which haven't even lasted for 2 years. JT Medupe and Lebogang not have outlasted the minimum barrier of 5 years for most couples but have a child together they both love.

Furthermore, their relationship has lasted for over 10 years as the couple is believed to have met in 2014 when they played siblings Jonathan Motene and Angela Mogale on Generations the Legacy. JT Medupe and Mthunzi have served the best couple goals in terms of years together and raising their child together, as we all know, raising kids apart can break them and their views of relationships.

5. Masandi and Thuthuka Mthembu

Everyone probably knows about these two, Nonka from Uzalo and Masandi. But how true is it that they were dating in real life. Well, it's most likely true, in 2022, some of their colleagues confirmed the rumours of the two dating. Which didn’t come as a shock to their uzalo fans because on the drama they were also a couple.

According to their colleagues, the two never actually hid their relationship at work but tried keeping things professional so that it didn't affect their work. While they were private about their relationship on social media and the tabloids, in private they were very open and would post each other on their Whatsapp statuses. As of 2024, we don't know if the two are still together but unless we see masandi flaunting another woman, its possible they're still together.

6. Hungani Ndlovu and Stephuanie Sandows

This is also another tale as old as time, but true as it can be. These two also met at work when Hungani was casted by his then boss Stephanie Sandows who also played Ingrid on the show. Bit after a while, she fell in love with Hungani and had to find a way to let him know. So, for this relationship, the woman made the first move.
