NOTE:
It's kind of crazy timing to upload this just after the whole Adobe Animate situation. ICYMI, a couple weeks ago, Adobe announced it was discontinuing Animate... but then... after 24 hours of intense backlash from the animation community (and plummeting stock), Adobe reversed that decision. Animate would be kept available, though no new features or updates would be provided. Weird, but okay.

During those 24 hours, I was frantically rewriting my script and revising this video, figuring out how I would address the situation. I couldn't NOT mention it since Adobe (and Animate) is such a big topic in this video. But then Animate came back the next day... so... I just decided to leave my video the way I originally wrote it back in December. Nothing changes about my thesis. But I wanted to at least acknowledge that whole situation.

Will I continue to use Adobe Animate? Who knows. Will I continue using it... for now? Yeah, I guess so! Might as well. But let this be a testament as to why software companies rarely have our backs! Also... subscription models suck! The fact that Adobe can take away their software from us at ANY point, and screw over so many animators despite the fact we've been paying them rent for years?.... it's insane.

All that said, software doesn't matter! If Adobe DID decide to discontinue Animate, animators would find a way. We'd turn to other programs, hopefully managed by companies who actually care! Maybe in the future, I'll explore Toon Boom or Moho for my YouTube videos. Or maybe I'll explore the rigging options in Tahoma2D. Or maybe a secret fourth option will pop up in the coming years...
