“Hecuba’s Nightmare” is a mythic prologue to the Odyssey of a Wandering Soul album.
This piece is inspired by Queen Hecuba of Troy — a mother, a queen, and a symbol of loss and endurance in the ashes of war.

When I was younger, I saw a stage play about Helen of Troy. It was meant as a parody, but one scene stayed with me for life:
Greek actress Natasa Manisali, as Hecuba, waking from a nightmare. Her ladies-in-waiting gathered to calm her, and then Afroditi Manou’s lament filled the theater. For a moment, it felt like the ruins of Troy had come alive on stage.

That memory became the seed for this song.

Hecuba was the legendary queen of Troy, wife of King Priam, and mother to Hector, Paris, Cassandra, and many more.
She is remembered for her fierce love for her children, her grief during the Trojan War, and her role in tragedies such as Euripides’ The Trojan Women.
To me, she is the voice of every mother who mourns in war — a figure of heartbreak and endurance.
