When Freddie Mercury wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" in 1979, he said that he composed it on the guitar, an instrument that he could barely play. He credits this limited ability on the instrument with forcing him to work within the few chords he knew, which in turn freed him up and made him able to compose a great song.

Apparently the writing and recording process went by very fast, with the band finishing within hours.

However, don't be fooled into thinking this is an extremely simple song to play on the guitar because it definitely isn't. The bridge section has some quick chord changes wrapped around some clever single note lines that may take a little getting used to.

Overall I think this Crazy Little Thing Called Love guitar lesson would be great for any upper beginner to intermediate level player to learn.

The main thing to focus on in the beginning is getting the rhythm pattern to the song down correctly. This is a smart thing to practice first because all you will need to do is put it together with simple chord progressions that are coming later in order to quickly get the song under your fingers.
