2006-2012 Rav4: Transmission Fluid Flush

In this video, I perform a complete fluid flush of the automatic transmission on a 2008 Toyota Rav4. Unlike a drain and fill, a flush completely replenishes the fluid in the transmission, oil cooler, and torque converter.

Some people have heard horror stories about transmissions slipping post-flush. This is rarely the case. Vehicles with a poor maintenance record or a history of abuse may exhibit shifting irregularities post-flush because the root-cause is no longer masked by contaminated fluid. The old fluid was so full of burnt clutch material, it actually increased the friction coefficient of the fluid. When replaced with new fluid, these worn clutches begin to present themselves.
I have exchanged fluid on many transmissions with over 200,000 miles that likely never saw any kind of preventive maintenance.
If you already have transmission problems, a flush may not be the answer. If you're transmission is shifting great, it might really appreciate the love!
