We found the klipspringer making loud, shrill whistles and stamping her front hooves on the rocks — classic alarm behavior and to warn the predator that it has been spotted. We knew there had to be a leopard close by, but we couldn’t see it at first. The klipspringer, however, was fully aware of the predator’s presence. I was just as nervous for her while filming and apologize for the shaky video.

After some time, we finally managed to spot the leopard. See if you can find it too at about 02:37.

The klipspringer was lucky this time… but just a week later, everything changed when the same young leopard caught her while she was grazing on the ground.
