Asst. Prof. Dr. Chalowat Inpa, Ministry of Public Health, points out that only 30 percent of those receiving treatment can stop using for one year and then relapse. Lomrak Innovation aims to solve this problem. The challenge for sustainable community-level implementation is linking with the government, particularly the police and the Ministry of the Interior.

Assoc. Prof. Pol. Lt. Col. Dr. Poonrat Leetikul, Wongchawalitkul University, pointed out mental health problems caused by methamphetamine use. In 2024, a survey found that out of 1.6 million Thai households that use drugs, 220,000 people (11.5%) experience mental illness. Of the approximately 6 million who use all types of drugs, 400,000 are at risk for mental illness. While 11 percent receive drug treatment, only 3 percent receive psychotherapy.

Thipawan Chuchatmanee, a specialist nurse at Tha Ruea Hospital, shared the story of the patient care team at a community hospital. Those that can be assessed and referred include the police, treatment, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, which can help reduce the burden on community hospitals.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Suwanna Arunphongphaisan of Thanyarak Hospital, Khon Kaen, presented research results that highlighted the differences between amphetamines and ice. That is, while laborers use amphetamines to work, wealthy people use ice to promote sexual activity. Ice affects the brain and causes more mental symptoms than amphetamines.
