Synopsis of the Film-
गाँव में रहने वाली बूढ़ी काकी बेसहारा थी…..न कोई औलाद ही बची न ही साथ देने को काका जिन्दा रहे…..ले दे के भतीजा बुद्धिराम उसकी पत्नी रूपा और उनके बच्चे थे अपना कहने को…..बुद्धिराम ने काकी की सारी जायदाद अपने नाम लिखवा ली….ये वायदा करके की सारी जिन्दगी काकी की सेवा करेगा…..परजायदाद लिखवाने के कुछ ही समय बाद सब बदल गया…..काकी रोटी-कपड़े को रात दिन रोती और उसका रोना सुन बुद्धिराम और रूपा उसे जीभर कर कोसते…..काकी का कोई अगर सुख-दुख का साथी था तो वह थी बुद्धिराम की लड़की लाडली…..बुद्धिराम के लड़के का तिलक था…..पूरे गांव ने जी भर कर पकवान खाये….पर जब बूढ़ी काकी रेंगते हुए दोनों हाथों से जमीन पर चलते हुए खाने पहुँचती हैं तो पहले रूपा….फिर बुद्धिराम उसको दुत्कारते हैं…..और दण्ड स्वरूप उसको उस दिन खाना नहीं देते…..लाडली अपनी पूड़ियां माँ की नजरों से चुरा बूढ़ी काकी को आधी रात को देने जाती है……भूख से बेहाल बूढ़ी काकी की इच्छा दो पूड़ी खा और बढ़ जाती है……और वह लाडकी के साथ खिसकती रेंगती जहां मेहमानों ने खाना खाया था वहाँ पहुँच कर जूठे पत्तलों से पूरी कचैड़ी के टुकड़े चुन खाती है……इसी दरम्यान रूपा की आँख खुल जाती हैं लाडली को न देख वह बाहर आंगन में आती है…..काकी को जूठन खाते देख अपनी गलती का एहसास कर बूढ़ी काकी के कदमों में सर रख माफी मांगती है……..

Old age is the worst curse one has to suffer in endowed with the boon of a long life. Boodhi Kaki is an old widow, even her sons have died. She had written all her property to her nephew Budhi Ram who had promised to give her every possible comfort and care. But as the time passed, all the promises were slowly forgotten. Today Boodhi Kaki lives a miserable life of neglect a pathy and utter disregard. All her senses have slowly abandoned her except the liking of good food. She loves delicious food. That is the only interest left in her life. If she is not given anything she wants to eat, she starts yelling, weeping and cursing everyone. All the family members are fed up of her they ill-treat her. Even Boodhi Ram's sons tease and harass - it is Ladli Budhi Ram's and solace from anyone in the family - it is Ladli Budhi Ram's youngest daughter. The little girl loves the old women dearly. On the occasion of Boodhi Ram's son's 'Tilak' ceremony Boodhi Kaki is very excited. All sorts of delicious delicacies are being prepared for the feast and the fragrance of delicious food of maddening her. She is not able to suppress her greed, she wriggles out of her room and reaches the kitchen just to watch the delicious food being cooked. Just then Roopa, Boodhi Ram's wife notices the old woman, she is terribly enraged by her greedy proclivity. So unfuriated is she that she starts abusing and cursing the old women. Boodhi Kaki is deeply hurt she wriggles back to her obfuscated room. And when all the guest are having food and old woman weeps silently in her room and waits for someone to call her. But no one comes. Everyone seems to have forgotten her. She peeps through the window and watches the guests devouring the delicious food. Ceased by a suppressible desire she again wriggles out of her room. And reaches the place where the guests are enjoying the feast. Budhi Ram Notices here, trembling with wrath and furry he grabs her hand, pulls her away and dumps her in her room. She falls and loses consciousness. There is just one member of the family who is terribly aggrieved by the old woman's pathetic plight - she is Ladli, but what can the little girl do. She waits for the right moment. Al night when the feast is over and everyone is fast asleep Ladli gets up she has not eaten her food she has saved it for her Budhi Kaki. And when the old woman compes to, Ladli enters her room with her Thali of food. The old woman weeps, blesses the little girl and starts devouring the food. She empties the 'Thali' but her hunger is not satiated. She asks for more but the little girl is afraid of her parents, she cannot steel the food from the kitchen. Some sound makes Roopa wake up and she is stunned to see the ghastly sight - Budhi Kaki is sitting near the thrown away 'pattals' and devouring the food left over by the guests.
