Описание к видео Event calls for reforms in family courts, Amber Alerts after sisters allegedly killed by father

A press conference and gathering at Seattle City Hall Plaza on June 13 will address the tragic deaths of the Decker sisters, allegedly murdered by their father during unsupervised custody.

The event aims to honor Whitney Decker, the grieving mother, and her daughters by urging reforms in family courts and Amber Alerts for family cases.

Speakers will include state lawmakers Rep. Walen and Rep. Burnett, as well as Kathy Sherlock, mother of Kayden Mancuso and advocate for Kayden’s Law.

A moment of silence for the Decker girls will be led by University Place City Council member Melanie Grassi.

Organizers said stronger child safety laws and an Amber Alert may have saved Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker.

The gathering calls for legislative changes to protect children in family court and emergency responses, emphasizing the need for child safety to be the top priority in custody cases.

Local and federal law enforcement have been searching for the 32-year-old father of the girls, Travis Decker, from the air and on the ground after the bodies of his daughters, 5-year-old Olivia Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 9-year-old Paityn Decker, were discovered on June 2.The bodies of all three girls were found about 75 to 100 yards away down an embankment, and investigators noted zip ties and plastic bags were scattered throughout the area.

The girls were first reported missing on May 29 after Decker failed to return them to their mother as part of their court-ordered visitation plan. Decker was also noted to be homeless, and struggled with PTSD and mental health issues.

Per the plan, Decker was not allowed to take the girls out of the area of Wenatchee County and was not allowed overnight visits.

The girls' panicked loved ones contacted the WSP on the night of May 29. but the WSP declined to send an Amber Alert.
