Dialogues with Darwin: Poetry Project
a collaboration with the American Philosophical Society Museum

Dialogues with Darwin, the compelling exhibition at the American Philosophical Society (APS) Museum, invites visitors to begin their own dialogue with the ideas and writings of Charles Darwin. Network for New Music joined in too, asking composers and poets to add to the conversation with music and poetry inspired by Darwin's words and images.

Join us for the world premiere of Darwiniana, a major multimedia work by composer Maurice Wright, and world premieres of compositions by outstanding young composers David Carpenter, Andrew Litts, Ian Munro, Daniel Nelson, and Daniel Shapiro, with original poetry by Beth Feldman Brandt, Jose Cedillos, and Cort Day.

Performed by special guest Randall Scarlata, baritone, with the Network for New Music Ensemble, Jeremy Gill, guest conductor.

Both concerts will offer, free to concert ticket holders, a wine reception and brief private guided tour of the Dialogues with Darwin exhibition at the APS Museum, located at 104 S. 5th St., just a block away from the concert in Benjamin Franklin Hall.

Friday February 19, 2010 ~ 8 PM (wine reception and guided tour, 6:30 PM)
Sunday February 21, 2010 ~ 2 PM (wine reception and guided tour, approx. 4 PM)
