Mawile, or Kuchiito in Japanese, is a deceptive pokemon that looks cute from the front but will eat you alive with a bigger mouth that grows from her head. And there is a Japanese folktale that features a very similar monster or yokai.

Once upon a time, there was a stingy man who despised the concept of marriage because he didn’t want to share any bit of the money he had saved. He would joke that he would marry a woman if she never ate anything.

So one day, a beautiful woman appeared in front of him, claiming that she had never eaten a thing. The man was like, “Deal.”

And his new wife in fact didn’t eat any meal. But every now and then when the man came back home, he noticed a chunk of his rice was gone.

So he pretended to go out and came back to watch what would happen. Then his wife started making a bunch of riceballs and throwing them into a big mouth opening on the top of her head.

So the man saw this and he was mad as hell. Not scared. So he confronted her but she transformed into a full-on yokai and tried to eat him, but luckily he managed to get away.

At the end of the day, he was like, “Okay, human women are wonderful.”

So the moral of this story is Don’t leave your girlfriend hungry!!
