5:2 fasting is a great method for beginners. Those who struggle with 16:8 intermittent fasting or one meal a day intermittent fasting will likely do very well with the 5:2 fasting diet.

I don't personally do the 5:2 intermittent fasting but I think its an incredible option for many people. I don't think that it will offer you the same benefit as one meal a day or regular 16:8 fasting because it does not put you in a fasted state for a long period of time. Though you'll get many of the same benefits I do believe the other fasting methods will offer you much better results.

You should follow whatever method is sustainable for you so that you can receive the long term benefits that fasting has to offer.
