A stunning day for a flight to the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Delayed flight due to the Fairchild Metroliner scheduled to operate the flight broke down. Air Chathams quickly moved us onto the much larger Saab, which is due to take over all Whakatane services come October.

Lovely views of the Pacific Ocean and Bay of Plenty. Clear views of Mount Maunganui, Motiti Island and Whale Island. White Island be seen through the haze puffing away as usual. Touchdown on Runway 09, and quick taxi to Whakatanes quirky Terminal. Must be one of the last airports in NZ to offer free parking :)
