Iceland Volcano LIVE: Sundhnukagigar Volcano Erupts in Iceland, Forces Evacuation of Grindavik Town

A volcano near Iceland's capital erupted late night on Wednesday (20 November) for the tenth time in three years, spewing fountains of lava and smoke, the country's meteorological office said. The Icelandic Meteorological Office informed that the Sundhnukagigar volcanic fissure began erupting at 2314 GMT near the town of Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula, forcing its evacuation. Situated near the capital Reykjavik, the fishing town of Grindavik saw its most recent volcanic eruption on 6 September.
