This National Indigenous History Month we continue to honour the stories, traditions, and strength of Indigenous communities.

That’s why we want to share the work happening at Veronica Block, a supportive recovery housing program created specifically for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women, including mothers.

Here healing is rooted in culture, care, and connection.

Heather Smith (she her), Program Manager, shares how this space is held by Indigenous staff and shaped by daily moments of community including shared breakfasts, craft nights, beauty nights, movie nights, and more. These aren’t just activities. They’re ways of rebuilding trust, joy, and a sense of belonging.

Spaces like Veronica Block are where healing begins where women can feel safe, be heard, and start to imagine a different future for themselves and their families.
