You can easily cut off older fans from Slipper Orchids once they have bloomed! You don't have to wait to clean your Paphiopedilum until the older fans' leaves are brown and somewhat dry, BUT, every time we cut into fresh tissue, we create a wound which could, in turn, pose all sorts of issues with our orchids. Inviting rot into a Slipper Orchid is easily done, because of how tight the structures are around the base.
