In this episode, Tony goes down one of the least travelled paths in an attempt to expose you all to the mystifying world of Conlon Nancarrow.

Nancarrow composed regular music and was a jazz trumpeter but soon found a niche for creating humanly impossible music to be created with the mechanism of player pianos.

Certainly, a precursor to the synclavier used by Frank Zappa and others extensively in their compositional work. Made it easy to preform humanly impossible tasks such as wide subdivisions of beats and in nancarrow's case, often variations of zipper music...... music flying by so fast that the tone can be detected in varying degrees.

Certainly fans of Frank Zappa know that Nancarrow visited Zappa and Frank was fascinated with his approach. Nancarrow probably belongs in the category of visionaries like Nicolas Slominsky and others who were drawn to their destiny regardless of financial reward to a furtherance of the art form.

Certainly as he notes in the video, there is nary a commercial market for these experiments.
