Confident of their innocence, the brothers allow their bags to be searched—but the cup is found in Benjamin’s possession.

Shocked and devastated, the brothers return to Joseph’s house. Joseph declares that Benjamin must stay as his slave. At this moment, Judah steps forward and delivers a heartfelt plea. He explains their father Jacob’s deep love for Benjamin and recounts how losing him would destroy their father after already losing Joseph years ago.

In a powerful act of selflessness, Judah offers himself as a substitute, asking to remain as a slave in Benjamin’s place. This demonstration of loyalty and repentance sets the stage for Joseph to reveal his identity in the next chapter.
