Those in the market for a home right now know that prices are high and supplies are low, but new legislation just proposed in Lansing could reverse those trends.

A group of lawmakers across both parties and both chambers say new homes like this one are hard to come by - and they want to change that.

"We are short more than 100,000 home units in our state today," Lauren Strickland, executive director of Abundant Housing Michigan said.
