Starting 2026 by checking things off my to do list. Did I use a scrap piece of wood to make something to hold my headphones? Yes. Is it perfect? Yes. Does it look perfect. Also No. Wait... no...

For Woodworkers:
This desk was put out for trash by some neighbors 10 years ago when I moved into this house. I cleaned it, sanded it, stained it, and have been using it ever since. That said, I've always needed a place to hang my headphones so here I whipped up something quick. It's just another reminder that not every project has to be a big beautiful vase or something.

The holder is made from pine and stained with Medium Walnut Watco oil to roughly match the color of the desk that's been sun baked for 10 years. I frequently switch between headphones and speaker audio and this has always been in the back of my mind. There's the bar for the headphones, a dedicated hole for the jack that runs to the computer (press fit (the last couple mm of the hole is drilled a size smaller)), a spot to hold the two different cables for connection, and a little hook to hang the headphone cable when not in use.
