Описание к видео Hyperledger vs Ethereum | Difference between Hyperledger and Ethereum | 101 Blockchains

As the interest around blockchain technology grows consistently, the demand for enterprise blockchain platforms would increase substantially. The total value of the blockchain market is predicted to reach around $23.3 billion by the year 2023. However, a recent Gartner report suggests that around 90% of the existing enterprise blockchain platform implementations would require replacement by 2021. The report points towards the importance of selecting ideal enterprise blockchain platforms suited to business requirements.

In this video, our expert discusses the differences between two notable enterprise blockchain platforms, Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum. Hyperledger Fabric is one of the notable projects in the purview of the Hyperledger project, with a permissioned and private architecture. Therefore, it is suitable for enterprises relying on privacy for sensitive operations. On the other hand, Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. The public nature of Ethereum restricts its appeal for enterprises requiring privacy. The Ethereum software executes specific scripts across a distributed network of devices.

Coming to the differences between Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum, our expert takes different points of comparison in this video as references. Here is a brief reflection on performance of the two contenders in different criteria.
· In terms of ledger type, Hyperledger Fabric follows a permissioned architecture while Ethereum follows the public platform model.
· In terms of governance, Hyperledger Fabric is subject to control of The Linux Foundation and enterprises involved in development of the project. On the other hand, Ethereum enjoys limited restrictions with community governance under Ethereum developers.
· Hyperledger Fabric provides throughput of 2000 transactions per second and Ethereum can provide higher throughput, only with limited nodes.
· Hyperledger Fabric does not need cryptocurrency for operations while Ethereum requires Ether cryptocurrency for transactions.
· Hyperledger Fabric relies on pluggable mechanisms as consensus mechanisms, while Ethereum relies on Proof of Work mechanisms.
· Both Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum facilitate support for smart contract execution, albeit with difference in use of chaincode for the former. While Ethereum uses Solidity as the coding language for executing smart contracts, Hyperledger Fabric depends on Node.js, Golang and Java for writing chaincode.
· In terms of applications, Ethereum is popular alternative for decentralized applications while Hyperledger Fabric is comparatively new with limited applications.

The concluding comments of our expert in this video reflect on ideal use cases for application of Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum in detail.
