Sailing in Panamá - Isla Taboga, Isla Otoque, and Vista Mar / San Carlos

Isla Taboga lies roughly 10 miles southwest of Panama City. Daily ferries bring visitors through a sprawling ship anchorage to the small island where they enjoy the beach.

It was a mixed bag for us. While we enjoyed the better water quality, after a week in Panama City, we were surrounded by party boats. When we finally got to shore, nearly every business had closed for the day since the last ferry had returned to the city. On the flipside, we saw locals going about their day, seeing what life is like when the tourists go home.

We then sailed to Isla Otoque, another 10 miles southwest, where we saw a big whale and her calf before we dropped anchor to rest for the night.

The next day, we had all sails out to cover the final 20 miles of our season of cruising, arriving in San Carlos where there the Vista Mar Marina lies. We'll leave Miette there for a couple months while we return to Portland to visit family and friends, and hopefully get a little work.
