Antique Tibetan Painted Cabinet

Описание к видео Antique Tibetan Painted Cabinet

This antique Tibetan painted cabinet features its old hues and shades typical of the region. Detailed patterns of peonies and longevity symbols wrap around the door panels, while other flower motifs adorn the outer frames and lower panels. The two left hand panels are fixed, whilst the right and centre panels are doors that open to give access to upper and lower storage compartments.

This cabinet is typical of the rudimentary furniture made by monks in Tibet, usually from pine. Its original purpose was to house religious scrolls, ceremonial robes, and personal valuables. Antique cabinets with old paintings like this one are now difficult to find, as most seen on the market today are twentieth century reproductions or old pieces with newly refreshed paintings.
