Tying A Calvin Shrimp With A Difference

I revisit a deadly salmon fly that salmon just can't resist during late season! The Calvin shrimp is one of, if not the most, popular salmon flies for late season fishing. Here I tie it on a partridge patriot red hook to give it a little edge at this time of the year.

I have since fished with this pattern on a red hook and I must say, it looks fantastic in the water!

Dressing:
Tag: Gold oval or wire
Tail: Red, orange and magenta Artic runner (layered) with crystal flash and angel hair
Body: Mix of 80% red fur and 20% yellow lite brite
Rib: Gold oval or wire
Wing: Dyed hot orange fox pelt
UK reared Jungle cock
Hackle: large red badger cock hackle over very large hot orange cock hackle
