I'll also provide examples of sentence structure and how we punctuate these sentences. A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. It contains a subject and a predicate. The sentence structures are simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex. These sentences also are classified by type: declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative.

The basic ending punctuation marks used are periods, question marks, and exclamation points. We also use commas, apostrophes, and quotation marks in different sentences.
