How to repair 2002 Ford Escape,passenger doors and rear door/glass will not open,

I bought this escape 2 days ago and the 2 passenger doors and gate would not open,,they were stuck closed (even the back glass) and every site I went to could not explain how to repair the latches with the doors closed,,just to destroy the door panels,cut doors off or break the latches and buy new ones,they did say the dealership could repair them for about $300-$400 each,the part would cost over $100 if you wish to do it yourself..

Problem is,after people did allow mechanics to repair them,they had the same problems later down the road..

I tore mine apart,,doors still closed,taking the panels off and worked on them 2 hours before finding the problem with the latches,,,,

They get stuck in 1/2 locked position,,door locks lock n unlock but Doors still Stayed Locked!?!....(yea I didn't understand it either).

But if you find the brass plates on the side door,where the switch is,,flip this plate,up/down,(with a screw driver)it unlocks and locks the doors,,Fully unlocks them,,,,,then open the door using the handle,,
The same with the back glass and the hatch back,rear gate,(back door),they did not open,I pulled the cover off the hatch back,while the door was closed,just pryed the top apart enough to work the rods for the lock,door and glass,they opened fine afterwards...I sprayed them with oil and opened and closed them all several times and no problems so far...


I found it crazy no one knows why these cars are doing this,,but if the Doors on a Escape will not open,,,and it seems the door latch is not grabbing to unlatch the door,,it may be as simple as flipping the Lock Switch and spraying some oil,,its a 5 Cent fix for a $400 problem..I put this up so it may help others to save money and headaches,,

*This may not help every one,but most problems with the doors not opening sound alot like the problems I had...*
