On August 1st, 2023, I had the opportunity to visit Iceland to view the new eruption from the top of Litli-Hrútur. Despite a decrease in activity (and indeed, the eruption ended only 4 days later!), the volcano put on an amazing show! This is an edited video from my DJI Mini 3 Pro set to music. Shown are various views of the roiling lava lake in the crater, a few of the numerous "volcanadoes" in the field to the south, a brief peek into a lava tube and some ooze-outs of fresh lava near the foot of the hill, and a final shot of the spectators (including yours truly) on the top of the hill.

I deliberately kept my drone at a distance and out of the gas plume to avoid any heat-related issues. While I won't be winning any awards any time soon for either my drone piloting or video editing stills, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
