8.1 Torque | General Physics

Описание к видео 8.1 Torque | General Physics

Chad introduces the topic of torque in this lesson. He begins by comparing the relationship between force and acceleration to torque and angular acceleration, explaining that just as a force can change the linear motion of an object, torque can change the rotational motion of an object. He then provides the physics definition of torque which is force times lever arm. He distinguishes between cases where the force is applied perpendicular to a surface and cases where it is not and shows how to calculate the torque in either case.

Chad finishes the lesson by solving three physics torque sample problems. The first physics torque problem is a simple comparison of the torque generated with a longer lever arm. The second physics torque problem is a calculation of torque when the force is perpendicular to the lever arm. The third physics torque problem is a calculation of torque when the force is not perfectly perpendicular to the lever arm.
