A woman was caught stealing designer perfumes worth more than £2,400 after calmly targeting a John Lewis store while pushing a baby pram.

CCTV footage shows Agita Cica, 27, casually browsing and testing fragrances inside the John Lewis store in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, before discreetly hiding boxed designer perfumes in a concealed bag inside the pram.

The thefts were not opportunistic. According to Greater Manchester Police, the shoplifting was deliberate, organised, and persistent, with multiple incidents captured from different camera angles.

Cica was arrested at the scene on August 31, 2023, after staff intervened and called police. She initially provided false personal details but was later identified. After failing to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court in October 2024, a warrant was issued and she went on the run for over a year, registering multiple addresses across the UK.

She eventually handed herself in on November 4, 2025, and pleaded guilty to four counts of theft at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

Instead of prison, she received a 12-month Criminal Behaviour Order, banning her from every John Lewis store in England and Wales.

Police say shoplifting is not a victimless crime, as it places financial pressure on retailers, affects staff safety, and contributes to higher prices for honest shoppers.
