The venerable Jim McGillivray is best known for his bagpiping as a soloist, teacher, entrepreneur, and as a former band member of the Guelph Pipe Band, the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band, and the Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band respectively. He also established the School of Piping at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario.

With five North American Championships, the Gold Medal at Inverness (1985), the Clasp at Inverness (1986), the Gold Medal at Oban (1991), the March/Strathspey and Reel at the Glenfiddich Championships (1986), and the Strathspey & Reel at Oban (1986), Jim McGillivray has an unparalleled depth of expertise. Pipes|Drums Magazine called Jim "one of the best all-round pipers, ever.”

He is the founder and owner of Pipetunes.ca, Bagpiping.ca,    / @pipetunes   and McGillivray Piping. Jim McGillivray is also the Chairman of the Music Committee at the Pipers and Band Society of Ontario (PPBSO). In addition, Jim is the author of acclaimed "Rhythmic Fingerwork" and "Piobaireachd Fingerwork" series which have sold over 28,000 copies worldwide.
