Intuitions have a problem of irregular attendance that has a detrimental impact on their academic performance. In some intuitions, the attendance is taken by calling or signing in registers, which is time consuming and space consuming and time complexity Therefore, in this paper the GSM based Attendance Monitoring System using a door locking/unlocking system. In this paper an RFID Reader receives the data from an RFID tag. Each student is issued an RFID tag. A pre-define program is stored in the RFID tag. A student has to sweep his RFID tag near the RFID reader whenever he enters the institution. This reader is externally attached to a microcontroller based embedded system, and detects whether the information the student has entered is correct at that point, the reader will verify to see if the students' information is correct before deciding whether or not the student is qualified. The information about the student will be displayed on the GSM SIM 300 Modem, LCD display, and transmission. Parents may see whether or not their children are present. The Student Details will be indicated on the LCD display and send through GSM SIM 300 Modem to parents to display whether the student is present or not.
