That creator of the original book, George R R Martin, has given an indication as to how big Westeros is. Westeros, the location of the famous HBO drama ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of the Dragon’, is often referred to as the ‘Seven Kingdoms’. Judging from the show’s opening credits sequence, Westeros is more akin in shape to the United Kingdom, and many would assume, due to the characters’ accents, that this fantasy land had more in common with the UK. However, George R R Martin has revealed that he envisions Westeros as more akin in size to South America, which would be a colossal stretch of land. South America is roughly 4,700 miles in length and nearly three and half thousand miles in width at its widest point. That is quite a long way for the army of the dead to walk to Kings Landing from the northernmost point of Westeros.
